We have been growing turf for Oklahoma customers since the early days of the local sod industry, and we still approach the business the same way: grow it right, cut it fresh, and help people get the right product for the job.
Our story
From Oklahoma’s first sod farm to a modern family operation.
Ray and Patty Volentine began in landscaping in 1953 and saw that local customers needed a dependable sod source. That decision grew into the first sod farm in Oklahoma and laid the groundwork for Tulsa Grass & Sod Farms as it operates today.
Over the decades, the farm expanded from a small local operation into a large-scale growing business serving homeowners, landscapers, builders, and commercial projects. Even as the acreage and team grew, the business stayed family owned and rooted in the same practical standard: quality turf and honest service.
Ray Sr. was inducted into the Oklahoma Turfgrass Hall of Fame in 2006, and the work he and Patty started continues to shape who we are today.
